Hardbacon’s Crowdfunding Campaign Hits the $50,000 Mark

BMO SmartFolio contributes $14,000 to the Montreal fintech startup’s campaign

Online PR News – 17-March-2017 – Financial literacy is a much sexier topic than it sounds. At least that’s what Hardbacon has proven with its current crowdfunding campaign on Ulule. The Montreal-based startup has in fact reached 500% of its campaign target, in particular thanks to a $14,000 contribution from BMO SmartFolio.

The crowdfunding campaign, which continues until March 24, was launched to fund an online course about investing designed for Millennials. The campaign’s objective, which was $10,000, was surpassed in just a few hours.

At the time of writing, the campaign has received no less than 507 contributions for a total of $51,792. This was made possible by BMO SmartFolio’s $14,000 contribution to sponsor the campaign and support Hardbacon’s online course. “Hardbacon’s approach to learning is music to our ears,” said Silvio Stroescu, President of BMO InvestorLine. “We believe educated investors are empowered to make smarter decisions with their hard earned money. This promises to be a fun and engaging platform which will inspire even more millennials to invest smarter. We’re proud supporters of the campaign.”

The resounding support is an unexpected surprise for Hardbacon, which will launch a stock market investment application this summer. “We were afraid that people wouldnt line up to pay for an online course,” confessed Julien Brault, Hardbacon’s CEO.

He believes it’s the course’s “yawn-free” guarantee that made all the difference: “I promised supporters I would give them a refund if they found the course boring; for others, its as if we promised them chocolate-flavoured broccoli,” said Brault, a former business reporter.

Those who want to pre-order Not Another Boring Course About Investing can do so on Ulule (ulule.com/hardbacon) until 5:00pm EST on March 24. The course is offered for $60 during the campaign. The course will retail for $100 after its official launch this coming July.
